For those who have a long weekend (and of course for others), here's a little interactive game to offer your children to learn about a faithful companion of man: the dog.
AN INTERACTIVE TOOL, EDUCATIONAL AND FUN
In late October, the SCC (founded in 1881, it includes the goal of promoting dog breeds in France and the dog's role in society) launched, with the assistance of the AFIRAC, a CD Rom "The Adventures of Loupy" for children from 5 to 7 years and their parents. The purpose of this tool is to understand the behavior of the dog and the acquisition of knowledge to learn the right things every day and avoid bites. This game can also show children that the dog is a sensitive and must be respected like any living being.

Very fun and educational, it is experiencing family Loupy (the dog) in several places: the garden, living room, bedroom, kitchen, the street, the neighbor's house ... In each of them, a situation is offered to children with two options to choose from ... Some themes: to hurt the dog, the dog eats the dog sleeps, the strange dog, watch dog ... A quick note on the bottom right "about parents" can explain precisely the reasons for a choice over the other ...
Finally, the child learns the language of the dog. He explains that there are movements, postures and sounds that express the emotional state of the dog ... Does he want to play, he wants to stay quiet? But why, one must learn to observe your dog!

Getting to know an animal so close to us I think is essential both for the respect of the latter but also for the safety of children!. Knowledge must both be on the ethology and ethics.
EDUCATION TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF ANIMAL
But "if the child's education based on observation and understanding of animal communication signals can prevent accidents, it must above all stress the importance of knowledge and not to focus on a possible dangerousness or be generating fears "(taken from" The animal in the City ").
The report of the working group "Animals in the City" Encounters Animals and Society highlights the need to educate children to the knowledge of the pet. The school but not only could play a significant role in the understanding of this living being different from man. Recall that the pet often generates anthropomorphic attitudes contrary to respect for its place and its specific needs, attitudes often reinforced by the mass media and advertising.
In France, the notion of "respect for animals" is included in school curricula scientifically and ethically. But overall very posts do not always have the desired effect as each child receives the animal so diifférente depending on their age, culture, the presence or absence of pets at home ... This would require additional training for teachers ... But why not?
In the U.S., for example, are experiences that respect for the animal in education called "humanitarian", place the child on the e sense of responsibility towards the animal and provide it with a opportunity to increase self-confidence (Ameli TARZI, former president of the SPA New York).

For my part, in the absence of training for school teachers already stretched, the idea of bringing in schools outside speakers, recognized professionals in the animal world (veterinary ethologist, dog trainer ...) to talk about animal welfare and respect for life seems entirely appropriate! Collaborative projects (of course) with teachers and the Ministry of Education could be conducted. The school should remain open to such interventions and exchanges ... A number of experiments have already taken place and are quite encouraging.
Meanwhile, I invite you to discover the family CD Rom proposed by the SCC.

hello,
I say bravo to the scc for making this cd, but unfortunately it is good a little late in my hands.
my daughter was not severely scratched our Rottweiler dog has the cheek because she was bored and the tap on his back with a stick, my dog should have never lend a paw to my daughter but if I would have had to stand can be before it would never have happened, well we do not know but hey! Now our dog is in paradise dogs as I can tell my daughter was 2 years old who claims anyway! this cd is for 5 to 7 years but with this cd my filel understood very well and am wondering now if she can pet the dogs ... so I think they should do the scc pub of this game via commercials tv!
I have put the website of their game on my facebook wall because this is my tribute to my dog which I know was not bad but I told him goodbye oar as a security measure for me she had a dominance of my daughter even though deep down I know it was for freedom, I can finally matters is very important to educate the child in addition to the dog and this game is good support .!
