The latest issue of the journal Doc'Domicile (No. 10), journal and practice helps care for the dependent person, spends his case to the animal and more specifically to the beneficial effects of the animal in man.

FEATURE: ball hairs and company. A pet at home

"France is the first country in Europe for its number of pets and also by the number of dropouts! Fifty-four percent of families have at least one pet. But behind these figures, that hides this craze that has widened over the last forty years?
Some studies, mostly of foreign origin, show a correlation between a sense of healing and possession of a pet (cat or dog according to studies).
Whether the animal-assisted therapy (AAT), a dog specifically educated for assistance (see p.15) or simply a four-legged friend, the pet belongs to our cultural and social references. Evidenced by multiple zoonoses (see p.17) that pepper the history of mankind or the various regulations of our cities and our societies (see p.19). Christine Maintier (see p.12) reminds us that the history of man is an attachment history. What to do when a person can no longer care for her animals? For this question that worries our elders, Laurence Hardy (see p.10) invites us to look at the history of a person's life ... and its relationship to the animal. "

This file consists of two items:

- Pet: the changes in our sensibilities
- What does the company of an animal?

and three forms:

- Assistance animals, a dog to complete autonomy
- Diseases related to pets
- Right of the pet and duty of the master

DOC'DOMICILE, practical review, is intended primarily for professional carers (AVF, AD, AVS, AS, AMP, TISF, ...) taking care of dependent people at home (elderly, sick or disabled).

It also addresses responsible service assistance or home care (and SSIAD SAD), private nurses, nurse managers, occupational therapists ... as those responsible for CCAS, LINC, local bodies of gerontological coordination ...

Teachers in health and social careers and trainers will find a wealth of material to illustrate their lectures.

The magazine looks very interesting. I think it's great that this kind of magazine that is aimed primarily at health professionals can look at the benefits of animal, whether educated or company. Indeed, it is very difficult to "scientifiser" the results produced by our relations with an animal even though we are very likely to be certainly convinced. In addition, to allow professionals working with seniors to know that the dimension is the pet in the lives of vulnerable people, in my opinion is a real need to address the reality of their lives and thus position themselves as precisely in the management of their care. It is with great pleasure that I will try to get this magazine.
